The body of a 67-year-old pensioner was this morning found buried in a shallow grave on a farm at Belle West, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

The deceased has been identified as Sohan Ramdial, a cattle farmer of Lot 69 Claybrick Road, Belle West.

According to information received, the victim left home yesterday morning to milk his cows, which are usually kept on a plot of land at the backdam. He usually does this daily and would return home, but he did not do so yesterday.
The police said that when the victim failed to return home, his children went in search of him around 11:00 this morning.

When they got to the area, they observed one of Ramdial’s cows was tied to a post for milking purposes. A bucket with milk was found next to the cow but there were no signs of him.

Upon investigating, they saw freshly cut grass and dirt a few feet from his pasture. They dug and found his body with a rope tied around his neck.

It is suspected that the deceased was murdered on his plot of land while he was milking his cow since the animal was left tied to a post.

The police believe that the pensioner was killed by more than one persons since his body had to be lifted over a makeshift bridge to get to the shallow grave.

None of his cows are missing and his daughter said he did not have any issue with anyone. The police have no suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
