A young soldier lost his life in an accident late last night at Line Dam, Queenstown, Essequibo.
The accident happened just after 22:00 hrs.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Jermaine Jones of Sand Reef, Queenstown.
According to information received, the deceased was heading east on Line Dam—allegedly at a fast rate when he lost control of his Honda XR motorcycle as he approached a speed bump.
Guyana Standard has been informed that the soldier fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries to the head.
He was picked up by passersby and taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
