In an effort to enforce social distancing to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the Mayor & Councillors of the City (M&CC) of Georgetown is considering setting up alternative markets.

A team from M&CC along with the National COVID-19 Technical Team, is therefore inviting vendors to attend meetings on discussions in that regard.

The M&CC said that this move will enable citizens to continue plying their trade whilst at the same time enforcing guidelines of social distancing and the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the COVID-19 measures, markets are currently operating under a strict curfew. But when they do, there is the big issue of them being overcrowded, and persons not adhering to social distancing guidelines and wearing masks.

The meetings are for Wholesalers/Retailers or Vendors who operate at the areas identified, from Bourda Market.

The scheduled meeting days and dates are as follows:

TUESDAY 28 April 2020: –
All Vendors on Robb Street (between Alexander Street & Orange Walk).

WEDNESDAY 29 April 2020: –
All Vendors on Bourda Street (between Regent Street & North Road).

THURSDAY 30 April: –
All Vendors on the Merriman Mall (between Orange Walk & Cummings Street).

The meetings will be held in the City Hall compound at 15:00 hours (3 pm) sharp.

All Vendors must wear Face Masks and to maintain Social Distancing, only one (1) person is asked to attend to represent each Wholesaler/Retailer or Vendor.
