Ballots contained in 54 boxes were counted today as Day 13 of the recount of the votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening.

According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward, 9 boxes were completed for Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam); 17 for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara); 13 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 12 for Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice); and three for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne).

With regards to tabulation, some 608 Statements of Recount (SORs) were processed for the General, and 609 for Regional Elections.

Today’s exercise brings the total number of boxes processed thus far to 642, or 27.4% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections.
