Ballots contained in 82 boxes were counted today as Day 24 of the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.

According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward: 25 boxes were counted for for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 24 for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); four for Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni); 9 for Region Eight (Pomeroon/Supenaam); and 11 for Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo); and 13 for Region Ten (Upper Demerara/Berbice.

With regards to tabulation, some 1,521 Statements of Recount were processed for the General and 1,491 for Regional Elections.

Today’s exercise brings all boxes processed to 1,551 or 66% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections.
