Ballots contained in 97 boxes were counted today, as Day 27 of the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.

According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward: 36 boxes were counted for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 33 for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); two for Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo); and 26 for Region Ten (Upper Demerara/Berbice.
Today’s exercise brings all boxes processed to 1,829 or 78.1% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections.
