As of 23rd June 2020, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now 206. To date, 107 persons have recovered. Twelve persons would have succumbed from the disease since Guyana confirmed its first imported case back in March this year.

There are 87 active cases and 22 cases in Institutional quarantine. There is one patient in the COVID-19 ICU.

According to World Health Organization, there are 8,860,331 with 465,740 deaths globally. In the Region of the Americas, the total number of positive cases is 4,370, 519 with 221,771 deaths.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Shamdeo Persaud is calling for repatriating nationals to act responsibly.

“Guyana is at the crossroads in this Pandemic. We must put a handle on the number of reported cases, and so I wish to plead with our repatriating nationals to act responsibly and provide the health authorities with accurate information on their arrival. This is the only way that the Ministry and the Surveillance Team will effectively be able to monitor you and manage the COVID -19 situation.

He said that the Mobile Testing Units will be in Central Georgetown at the Merriman’s Mall this week.
