The United States has imposed sanctions on more key government and elections officials. This development comes mere weeks after the first wave of restrictions were imposed.

Michael Kozak, acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Western Affairs of the U.S. State Department tweeted this earlier today:

“Today we took action to bar additional senior officials responsible for, or complicit in, undermining democracy in Guyana from entering the U.S. The U.S. will not stand by as the Granger administration continues to defy the will of the Guyanese people. Democracy must prevail”.
