A 40-year-old man was this morning chopped to death by his 18-year-old son following an argument.
The dead man has been identified as Collis Joseph, of Ithaca Village, West Berbice.
Guyana Standard understands that at about 7:30hrs, the father paid a visit to his son during which a fight erupted between the two.
During the fight, the son threw a cutlass at his father, which landed on his chest. In return, the father pelted back the cutlass before he collapsed.
The father was picked up by public-spirit persons and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect has since gone into hiding as the police investigation continues.
