Minister of Public Infrastructure and Finance announced moments ago that the PPP/C Government will be allocating $2.7B for Culture, Youth and Sports, for which $805.3 million is for sports.

In the area of sports, Minister Edghill said the government wants to revilatise the national sports programme, while simultaneously reconfiguring how it undertakes them in the context of the pandemic. Towards this end, Minister Edghill noted that this year, the government is going to be undertaking initial work on mini sports stadiums – in Regions Two, Six, and 10, and the Guyana-China friendship park.

He said too that $185 million has been allocated for the National Sports Commission to accelerate works on the synthetic tracks in Regions Six and 10, as well as the purchase of sports gear and ground enhancements.
