Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo told the National Assembly this afternoon that investigations are pending, with some ongoing into allegations of bribery at the Gaming Authority, fuel smuggling and procurement fraud. He said that top officials from the former regime, are “neck-deep” in these allegations.
Jagdeo said that the nation will be “shocked” when these investigations have concluded. He said more details of these probes will be made public in due time.

“Even now, we are coming to terms with the magnitude of fraud with fuel smuggling – widescale fraud involving top officials of the former regime…Over $300M in fraud has happened through GuyOil (Guyana Oil Company), will be exposed soon…Bid tampering, illegal approval of contracts, splitting of contracts, giving contracts to their friends and family,” the VP said.

He added that probes will be set into motion to look into the “criminal transactions” regarding the granting of lands to persons by the former A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) government.
He said that “billions of dollars” worth in land were vested to persons without monies being received by the government.
