Two men are now dead while another is hospitalised following an accident along Line Path Public Road, Corentyne Berbice, on Saturday.

Dead are 26-year-old Thurman Megnauth, also known as “Kiran,” and 36-year-old Nimrod Persaud, both of Line Path Village.

The injured man has been identified as 38-year-old Sheik Mahmood, a businessman of 76 Village, Corentyne Berbice.

At approximately 18:10 hrs, motorcar PYY 7581, which was driven by Mahmood, was proceeding north along the western drive lane while motorcar PLL 4090 was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane.

Mahmood alleged that while passing motorcar PLL 4090, the vehicle suddenly swerved into his lane, and they collided head-on.

As a result of the collision, both drivers and the occupant received injuries to their bodies.

They were all taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where they were seen and examined by the doctor on duty, who pronounced Megnauth and Persaud dead on arrival.

Mahmood is presently receiving medical attention in the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Skeldon Public Hospital, and his condition is listed as stable.

A Breathalyzer test, which was conducted on Mahmood, showed that he was not under the influence of alcohol. Investigations are ongoing.
