A mother of one who was involved in an accident along the Coverden Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Thursday last, has succumbed to her injuries.

Dead is 26-year-old Danata Damon, a nurse of Plot 8 Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, while three other persons are hospitalized. The accident occurred at about 05:00 hrs.

Guyana Standard understands that motor lorry GYY 3116, driven by a 33-year-old man of Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and a motor car, PRR 1821 driven by a 26-year-old man of Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD were involved in the accident.

Reports are that the motor lorry was proceeding north along the western side of the Coverden Public Road, EBD, allegedly at a fast rate of speed and while swerving from a pothole, lost control.

The 33-year-old driver ended up in the path of motor car PRR 1821, which was proceeding south. Both drivers, along with an occupant in the motor lorry and Damon, were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

However, on New Year’s Day, Damon, who was a nurse at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, succumbed to her injuries at about 5:45hrs.
