A 25-year-old woman and her mother were robbed on Wednesday evening by a lone gunman after they left Church.

The victim has been identified as Ann Mc Donald of Rumzeight West Coast Demerara (WCD). The incident occurred at Rumzeight Public Road.

Enquiries disclosed that about 19:30hrs, Church had just concluded when the victim and her mother walked to the public road to get a minibus. They caught a minibus, and exited at Rumzeight Public Road.

The victim reportedly told investigators that she took out her cellular phone and used it as a flashlight as she walked behind her mother.

She added that she turned around and saw an unidentifiable male who whipped out a handgun and told them to remain quiet.

The suspect relieved the victim of her black Samsung J7 cellular phone valued at $80,000 and $60,000 in cash and, while in the process, dealt a blow to her mother’s head with the handgun.

The suspect then made his escape in a silver-grey fielder wagon in a northern direction. Investigations are ongoing.
