The body of an unidentifiable, East Indian man was discovered today around 08:16hrs in the compound of a Chinese supermarket at Enmore, East Coast Demerara.

The scene was visited by a party of policemen. On arrival at the scene, the man was seen lying at the north-eastern side of the building, motionless with what appeared to be burn marks to the upper parts of his body. The body was clad in a short multi-coloured pants and part of a grey jersey.

The scene was processed and photographed by the police. The body was then escorted to Lyken Funeral Parlour, where it is awaiting identification and post mortem examination.

CCTV systems installed at the supermarket and buildings in the surrounding area were reviewed which revealed that about 02:46hrs today, the man was seen having an altercation with another man.

The now-deceased was pushed into the northern side of the fence. The suspect was then seen picking up some empty cardboard boxes before setting fire to the area where the victim was pushed.

The suspect then picked up a bicycle and rode away in a western direction.

A search is on for the suspect as investigations continue.
