The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) says it has received reports of flooding in Aranka, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region 7), as a result of heavy rainfall.

Reports from the Regional Chairman and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) confirmed that about half of the village’s population (2500) have been affected.

The area, primarily a mining community, is now using boats to get to essential locations and carry supplies.

The CDC is in contact with the Regional Administration and will be deploying a team to support the response.
