A 17-year-old young lady is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after her jealous 22-year-old lover dealt her several chops to the head and hand, following which he hung himself. Guyana Standard understands that the injured woman is alive and in a stable condition thanks to the valiant efforts of her 15-year-old sister who defended her against the cutlass-wielding man.

According to police reports, around 11: 45 am today, the victim and her siblings were traveling from Hubu Koker in their family boat and were on their way home to Fort Island. Halfway into their journey, the deceased approached them with his boat and suddenly jumped over into the victim’s boat.
