Eccles and Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) and Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) are among villages classified as COVID-19 hotspots, following a surge in cases in those communities, says Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony.

The Health Official, during his daily update today, said that these areas, including Success on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) are being closely monitored.

“There are pockets where we are seeing more cases, but generally when we look across, say the East Coast, or Georgetown, or the East Bank, [in] almost every village, there are one or two cases…“Similarly, in Region Three at Tuschen, we are seeing more cases…So, we have to keep monitoring,” the official said.

He also noted an increase in cases in Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).

As of yesterday, the regional distribution of confirmed cases was:
