A 50-year-old, Herstelling East Bank Demerara (EBD) Taxi Driver and his wife were tied up and robbed by two armed gunmen last night around 20:40hrs, police say.
They were robbed of one Samsung S8 cellular phone valued $80,000; a Samsung J3 cellular phone valued $40,000; a Samsung smart television, 65 inches, value unknown; a quantity of gold jewelry estimated value $500,000; and US$1200.
Enquiries disclosed that the man, who resides with his wife and daughter, went into his yard to feed his dog and secure his shop when he was attacked by two men, both armed with hand guns. They forced him into his house using the back door.
At the same time, the 50-year-old was gun-butted and received lacerations to his head. The man and his wife were tied with cloth while the bandits ransacked the house and carted off the items.
