Police, yesterday conducted a raid exercise at Hunter and James Streets, Albouystown, when the ranks observed six youngsters, between the ages of 16 and 23, sitting on a bench within a fenced yard. Upon seeing the ranks, the men ran in different directions and were later arrested.

Upon checking at the location they were sitting, a black bulky plastic bag was discovered, which when opened, contained marijuana and one .380 pistol with magazine and serial number filed off.

The young men all stated that they are not holders of a firearm licence and were taken to Ruimveldt Police Station, where the narcotic was weighed and amounted to 570 grams.

The firearm was processed for fingerprints, but none were uplifted. Same was marked and sealed along with the narcotics. Further investigations are in progress.
