With the deadlier Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus emerging as the dominant strain in many countries around the world, vaccines are becoming increasingly difficult to come by. Manufacturers have had trouble keeping up with demand. In Guyana’s case, many first dose Sputnik V recipients were told to wait on their second jab.

The country, however, has received another shipment of the second dose. The Ministry will begin administering those jabs from tomorrow, with April’s first dose recipients given priority.

This was announced by the Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, on Monday during his daily COVID-19 update. While the Minister did not disclose the number of jabs received, he noted that another shipment is slated to arrive next week through the Dubai supplier.
