Two women, 47 and 16 years old, were robbed last night around 23:00hrs at Number 55 Village, Corentyne Berbice by three masked men armed with a gun and cutlass.
They were relieved of an eight-and-a-half pennyweight gold chain with pendant marked ‘Britney’ valued at $90,000, a gold cricket bangle also with the name ‘Britney’ valued at $150,000, a gold bangle valued at $40,000, and another bangle worth $140,000.
Investigations have disclosed that on the date and time mentioned, the victims were in front of their yard sitting with their relatives and two neighbors barbecuing chicken when they were confronted by the suspects.
One of the suspects pointed a cutlass in the direction of one of the victims and told her not to move after which he relieved her of the articles mentioned. Meanwhile, another suspect pointed a handgun at the next victim, while relieving her of her valuables.
The entire ordeal lasted about ten minutes, after which the suspects made good their escape on foot. The matter was reported to the police and an investigation was subsequently launched.
