Odessa Limerick, 33, of Lot 12 Calcutta, Mahaicony received a call yesterday around 09:30hrs, informing her that her house was on fire. She left work and hurried home only to see her two-storey house engulfed in flames.
The Mahaica fire station was summoned and firefighters managed to extinguish the fire.
Limericks’ six-year-old son was subsequently questioned in the presence of his mother, and he stated that he went over to his aunt’s house and picked up a box of matches which he took home and lit on the mattress in the backroom of the upper flat.
Investigations are ongoing.
