Shazin Hussain, 42, of Enterprise Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was killed yesterday afternoon in an accident at Melanie Damishana, ECD.

He was reportedly struck down by PXX 5404, driven by 27-year-old Ramzan Mohamed of Little Biaboo, Mahaica River, ECD.

Enquiries disclosed that the motorcar was proceeding west along the Melanie Damishana Public Road when it is alleged by the driver that Hussain, on a pedal cycle, rode across the road from north to south into his path, causing a collision.

As a result, Hussain fell onto the road’s surface, receiving injuries about his body.

The 42-year-old man was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is presently at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the motorcar and no trace of alcohol was detected.

Investigations are ongoing.
