The Government of Guyana will be introducing an oxygen plant soon to aid in the country’s battle against COVID-19, says Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony.

With Guyana experiencing a surge in infections, Minister Anthony said the consumption of oxygen across the country has increased significantly.

“We are expecting to have an oxygen plant coming in shortly that we will be setting up at the Ocean View Facility so that we can self-generate our own oxygen,” the official said during his COVID-19 update today.

Guyana Standard understands that at least 130 persons are hospitalised with about 80 receiving medical oxygen.
