The Ministry of Health has informed that as of October 18, 2021, two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 877.

The patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at medical institutions, the Ministry said. It added that samples were taken at the time of admission, which subsequently returned positive tests.

The latest fatalities are an 18-year-old unvaccinated female and a partially vaccinated 50-year-old man, both from Region 10.

Meanwhile, the country has recorded an additional 94 cases, taking the number of confirmed infections since March 2020 to 34,608.
