A 32-year-old barber, Deokumar Lakhan called ‘Barber Boy’ was stabbed yesterday at his Belle West, West Bank Demerara place of business.

The 23-year-old male suspect was arrested.

Enquiries disclosed that Lakhan was at his barbershop when the suspect, who was armed with a short object, ran into the said barbershop and an argument ensued between the duo.

The suspect then approached the Lakhan and dealt him several stabs about his body, causing him to receive injuries.

The victim fell to the ground in an unconscious state and was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. He was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and later referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a serious condition.

The suspect was later contacted, told of the offense, and cautioned, but he remained silent.

He was arrested and taken to the Wales Police Station, where he was placed into custody pending further investigations.

  1. When I lived in Guyana, the Wales police station was infested by blacks who routinely arrest and jailed humans who do not have kinky hair. The same was with La Grange and Vreed-en-Hoop.
Seems things have changed a bit.
