The body of 62-year-old, Christopher Abel of Lot 18 Catherine, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, was found at Peesink Landing, Cuyuni River sometime around 05:30hrs last Friday.
Enquiries revealed that Abel went to Peesink Landing and complained about feeling unwell and having no money to take care of himself to travel home.
The body was discovered by another male on the veranda of an abandoned shop.
Police examined the body for marks of violence on the most exposed parts, but none was found.
The body is currently on Peesink Landing in a decomposing state awaiting transportation to Bartica.
