A 21-year-old woman was robbed in a car on her way home last night around 22:15hrs at Leonora, West Coast Demerara.

Guyana Standard understands that the victim had just left work and flagged motorcar #PVV 5519 to transport her home.

She entered the car and noticed three men including the driver. One seated in the back, while another man was in the front passenger’s seat.

In the vicinity of Leonora Stadium, the man in front told the driver to stop and the male in the back seat turned to the victim and pulled out a silver metal knife, which he used to cut the victim’s purse and relieve her of valuables.

He robbed her of one grey LG cellphone valued $30,000, one black purse valued $11,000 containing $14,500 cash, along with one National Identification card and Covid-19 Vaccination Book.

She was then pushed out of the car and the driver drove away heading east.

A report was made and quick response by the police led to the driver of the said car being intercepted at Windsor Forest Public Road, West Coast Demerara. The other two males have not been contacted as yet.

He was arrested and placed into custody pending further investigations.
