Twenty-year-old Joshua Witters, a construction worker of lot 11 Dr.Miller Street triumph E.C.D, was sentenced by Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.

The construction worker was found guilty of felonious wounding inflicted on Darion Witter on July 3.

According to the police, the two men lived at the address, in the same house. They are nephew and uncle, the police said. Investigations revealed that at about 8:50 hrs, the men had an argument over a phone charger that Darion burrowed without asking permission.

It was reported that Joshua then threatened Darion and later used a cutlass to chop the man about his body. He received injuries to his left foot and his right-hand thumb was severed.

He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital after Joshua lashed him with the cutlass.

Joshua had pleaded not guilty when the charge was first read to him. Today the Magistrate handed down the four years sentence after Joshua was found guilty.
