According to Guyana’s Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony some 410,181 adult Guyanese have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This represents 80% of that population, with 293,601 or 57.2% receiving both doses of a vaccine. Meanwhile, 30,214 citizens between the ages of 12 and 17 have received a first jab, with 21,527 obtaining both doses. This represents 41.4% and 29.5% of that category, respectively. 10,708 booster shots have been administered to date.

There are 741 active COVID-19 cases in Guyana, with 32 persons hospitalised at the various health institutions across the country. According to Dr Anthony, 22 persons are at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, with seven patients in that facility’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Overall, 17 patients are receiving breathing assistance (oxygen).
