A 54-year-old woman was robbed yesterday at Phase Two, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara when two men invaded her home around 04:20hrs.
Enquiries disclosed that the victim, who resides alone, was awakened by a noise in her home and as she got up to investigate, she was confronted by the suspects who placed a cutlass to her neck while demanding money and jewelry. They then tied her up and relieved her of a quantity of jewelry among other items (value unknown at this time).
The suspects then dealt the victim several lashes about her body causing her to receive injuries before making good their escape.
The victim managed to untie herself and raise an alarm. She was assisted and accompanied to the Vigilance Police Station where the matter was reported. She was then accompanied to a city hospital to seek medical attention.
Checks were made for the suspects but they were not seen. Investigation are ongoing.
