Four persons were seriously injured after the pickup they were in, crashed into a median at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) around 00:45hrs today.

According to the police, the motor pickup, GAB 4784, was proceeding north along the western carriage way of Herstelling Public Road at a fast rate and on approaching the Mocha Access Road, the driver Sirpaul Singh, a 38-year-old Croal Street, Georgetown resident, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a concrete median which separates the two carriage ways. The vehicle reportedly toppled several times and finally came to a halt on the Providence Public Road.

The driver was flung out of the vehicle on impact, while the occupants Roy Garcia, 34, of lot 238 Da Silva Street Newtown Kitty Georgetown; Jasmin Dias, 20, of Soesdyke/Linden Highway; and Romario Ossorio, 32, of 38 Croal Steet, were injured.

The driver and Dias were taken the the Diamond Diagnostic Centre in an unconscious condition, while the other two occupants were taken to the said institution in an conscious condition. Garcia was seen and examined by a doctor on duty, treated and later sent away, while the others were referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. They were further seen and examined before being admitted as patients.

The driver and Dias are both suffering from head and chest injuries and their conditions are regarded as serious while Romario Ossorio suffered a fractured right shoulder, but is in a stable condition.

Further investigation by the police is in progress.
