Guyana has 1,277 active cases, Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony disclosed today.

At the beginning of the year, the country had over 4,000 cases.

“If we compare from today to yesterday, we would have seen a significant drop because we move from about 1,500 right down to about 1200 now,” Dr Anthony said during today’s COVID-19 update.

There are 76 persons hospitalised, of which 59 are housed at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara with eight in that facility’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, 429, 287 of the adult population have received their first dose vaccine, reflecting 83.7 per cent of that cohort, with 323, 031 (63 per cent) fully vaccinated.

Some 33, 217 (45.5 per cent) of the 12 to 17-year-old population have received a single dose with 23, 840 (32.7 per cent) fully vaccinated.

According to the minister, 47, 189 booster shots have been administered to date.
