Devon Cummings, called “Palmer”, 32, of Sisters Village was killed yesterday at a Back Street, Goed Intent, restaurant yesterday about 16:50hrs.
Enquiries disclosed that the now-deceased and one of his friends were passing the restaurant when they saw other friends including the two suspects consuming alcohol.
Cummings and his friend were invited to take a shot of rum, which they did.
But according to police, a “tantalizing” (teasing) began. Cummings ignored his friends and said that he was going home. He subsequently walked out of the restaurant. An argument shortly ensued between him and another male.
Reports indicate that Cummings struck the other man which led to one of the suspects taking away his cutlass, pushing him against a wall while the other suspect pulled out a knife and dealt him a chop to his head and a stab to his chest.
Both suspects then made good their escape on foot in an unknown direction.
The victim was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while being treated. The body is presently at Ezekiel’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The matter was reported and based on information received, a man of Goed Intent was arrested and is assisting with investigations.
