Fourteen-year-old, pedal cyclist Makida Quick of Tucville Secondary School, lost her life after she was rammed by a motorcyclist, 21-year-old, Glenton Redman, who was at the time, performing a stunt along the road at Section ‘E’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, a little after noon yesterday.

Reports disclosed that Quick, who resided at lot 668 Section D Field, Sophia, was riding south along the eastern side of Section E Field Main Access Road whilst Redman, of Lot 1584 Section E Field Sophia, was speeding in the said direction in a lying position on his motorcycle.

He allegedly lost control of the cycle and collided with the teen. As a result of the collision, Quick was thrown some distance in the air before falling into a nearby drain while Glenton Redman fell onto the road’s surface.

They were both picked up in an unconscious condition and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit, where the teen was pronounced dead on arrival and the body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary.

The motorcyclist – whom police suspect is not the holder of a provisional or driver’s licence – subsequently regained consciousness and is presently receiving medical attention under police guard.

Further investigations are in progress.
