Forty-one-year-old Rajendra Khadaroo was killed in an accident on the Nigg Public Road sometime around 05:00hrs on Friday.

Enquiries disclosed that motorcar, HB 9593, was proceeding east along Nigg Public Road at a normal rate of speed and while trying to negotiate a turn on the road, the vehicle ended up in the path of a motorcycle, CG 4684, which was being driven by the now-deceased.

Police say that Khadaroo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

As a result of the collision, the now-deceased was flung off of the cycle, onto the front windscreen of the car, and then onto the road’s surface.

He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor, who pronounced him dead on arrival.

Subsequently, between 10:00hrs and 10:20hrs on Friday, a post-mortem examination with dissection was performed on the deceased’s body at the Port Mourant Public Hospital Mortuary by Doctor V. Bridgmohan.

The Doctor opined the cause of death was multiple injuries.

The body was later handed over to relatives for burial.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the motorcar the reads were 94 and 98 micrograms respectively. The driver remains in custody assisting with the investigation.
