Cops in Region 10 are on the hunt for a man who abandoned his vehicle and discarded a bag of marijuana during a police chase.

The incident occurred this morning at Half Mile, Wismar, Linden around 10:00hrs.

According to the police force, its ranks were on patrol when they observed the driver of the motocar acting in a suspicious manner.

The purple vehicle, bearing registration PRR 3003, was intercepted by the police ranks and the driver was asked to be searched.

However, as the ranks approached the motorcar, the driver sped off along the Burnham Drive Public Road Wismar, Linden causing the ranks to give chase.

The suspect managed to drive through Poker Street where he discarded a plastic bag. Shortly after, he managed to exit the motorcar and made good his escape on foot through a nearby alleyway.

The plastic bag contained cannabis leaves, seeds and steams. A search was carried out on the abandoned and documents found revealed that the motorcar is registered to Aubrey Ettiene of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden.

The motorcar and the plastic bag with its contents were taken to the Wismar Police station, where the cannabis was weighed and amounted to two pounds or 907.184 grams.

Investigations are ongoing.
