Police ranks on Thursday discovered 2,850 grams of cannabis in the backpack of a motorcyclist who had been struck down by a minibus at Coldingen, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The incident occurred around 05:30hrs.

The man was at the time on a Honda 150 motorcycle, bearing registration number CJ 1871, when he was involved in a collision with minibus, BXX 6632, which was being driven by a 65-year-old man of Ann’s Grove, ECD.

The motorcyclist, who was rendered unconscious, was picked up along with his backpack by the 65-year-old minibus driver and taken to the Vigilance Police Station where he reported the accident.

Whilst at the Vigilance Police Station, a Corporal made checks in the motorcyclist’s bag for identification documents and discovered a bulky parcel that contained cannabis.

The drug was subsequently weighed and amounted to 2,850 grams.

The motorcyclist was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where was admitted a patient in an unconscious state.
