The PPP/C administration is moving to construct office towers at Houston, East Bank Demerara (EBD) to house ‘scattered” governmental ministries and agencies. Making the revelation in the Committee of Supply today, was Public Works Minister, Bishop Juan Edghill.

The official told the House that in 2022, the sum of $2.5B was paid to the contractor, Caribbean Green Building Inc., as a mobilisation advance for the 12-storey “office towers”, which will be located in the Houston section of the Mandela/Eccels Interlink Road.

“Our ministry and its agencies are scattered into several buildings, and the intent – based on what we’re looking at – is that these office complexes should be able to accommodate about 6,000 persons,” he said.

Guyana Standard understands that the total cost of the project is pegged at a whopping $15.8B.
