Authorities in Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD), are investigating an alleged murder that occurred on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. According to reports, 21-year-old Shimron Benjamin, a Porknocker from Quarry Top, was found dead with his face bashed in.

The police are currently on the hunt for a 17-year-old suspect from Four Mile Village, where the incident took place. The victim and suspect were reportedly seen drinking high wine together and appeared to be intoxicated before the alleged murder was occurred.

At around 01:00 hrs, a 64-year-old farmer from S1A Junction, Four-Mile Village, found the victim lying motionless in the grass with blood on his head about 30 feet from his home. He immediately informed Royston Bumbury, the 57-year-old Amerindian Toshao of Four-Mile Village, who then escorted the victim to the Port Kaituma District Hospital. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Upon examination of the victim’s body, it was observed that his face was bashed in. The body has been taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital’s Mortuary, where it awaits a Post-Mortem Examination.

The police were informed of the incident less than an hour after it occurred and visited the scene soon after. Authorities found a piece of rock (boulder) with a reddish substance suspected to be blood at the site. The area is currently being searched as investigations into the incident continue.
