Police in Georgetown are investigating an alleged attempted murder and armed robbery that took place at approximately 22:30hrs on Sunday in the Riverview area of Ruimveldt. The victim, 33-year-old Damion Allicock who is also a vendor in the area, sustained two gunshot wounds to his abdomen and one to his right foot.

According to Allicock’s 23-year-old wife who was inside the shop selling when the incident occurred, the victim was sleeping in front of his shop when a man dressed in black with a face mask and a gun in his right hand approached him and ordered him not to move. The woman reported that she heard three gunshots seconds later and rushed outside to find her husband bleeding from his abdomen. She said he was also missing his jewellery and money.

The victim was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Detectives investigating the incident recovered one 9mm spent shell from the scene. A suspect who fit the description of the perpetrator was seen shortly after the incident in Albouystown was subsequently arrested. He is currently in custody as investigations continue.
