Remaldo Parris, a watchman of Parika Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo was on Friday remanded to prison for the murder of an Anna Catherina fisherman.

It is alleged that on April 11, at Parika, Parris murdered Munaf Azeez, a 26-year-old Fisherman of Seaview, Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.

The accused appeared today before Lenora Magistrate, Zameena Ali-Seepaul. He was not required to plead to the indictable change and was remanded to prison with the next hearing set for May 11, 2023.

An autopsy performed on the body of Azeez revealed that he died as a result of a perforated heart and lung due to stab wounds.

In a release earlier this week, police stated that one of the suspects arrested is a 28-year-old fisherman and owner of several fishing boats of Sea Dam, Parika, who was seen running towards his car PLL 4734 after the stabbing incident.

As he approached his car, a police mobile patrol which was in the area arrested him. He reportedly identified the other suspects involved in the attack.
