Alvin Dubar, a 48-year-old hire car driver of Lot 5 Section ‘B’ Sarah Johanna, East Bank Demerara (EBD), lost his life on Monday afternoon following an accident on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving which flipped several times, before coming to a halt.

Enquiries disclosed that Dubar was driving hire car HD 808, a silver grey Toyota Spacio, and was processing North along the western side of the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle.

As a result, he was flung from the vehicle and ended up on the western grass parapet, where he received injuries to his head and about his body. Dunbar was picked up by police ranks and public-spirited citizens in an unconscious condition and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, East Bank Demerara.

Upon arrival, the driver was seen and examined by Doctors on duty where he was pronounced dead. A passenger who was in the vehicle at the time was also taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was admitted as a patient in the Male Surgical Ward, suffering from lacerations to the head and about the body. His condition is regarded as stable.

The body of the deceased (Alvin Dubar) was then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary for storage, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Further investigation is in progress.
