The Guyana National Museum, in collaboration with ExxonMobil affiliate, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), today hosted the relaunch of the museum’s oil and gas exhibit.

Top officials from ExxonMobil, Hess Corporation and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited as well as government representatives were present at the museum for a simple ceremony to mark the official relaunch.

On display toward the back of the museum are a locally produced fire retardant coverall, a Liza Destiny umbilical cross section and samples of crude oil taken from Liza Unity and Destiny. Also on display is a miniature replica of the Liza Destiny and a large picture almost like a wallpaper of the newest Floating Production Storage and Offloading unit, Prosperity. The Prosperity display includes barcodes that when scanned takes one to a 3D viewing of the unit.

ExxonMobil Country Manager, Alistair Routledge said while most Guyanese won’t have the opportunity to be shuttled offshore for a first-hand view of operations there, they can access the next best thing, a 3D view.
