Ronaldo Warnauth, a 21-year-old construction worker from Lot 40 Phoenix Park, West Bank Demerara, and a 17-year-old male from Phoenix Park Squatting Area, have been jointly charged with the murder of Wafad Wahab. The incident occurred on April 29, 2023, at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop.

Today, the two defendants appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, where they were formally charged with the offence of murder. The case has been adjourned until May 29, 2023, to allow for disclosure and further investigation.

The alleged murder of Wafad Wahab, a 45-year-old handyman from Lot 6 Harlem, West Coast Demerara, took place at approximately 6:50 p.m. near Strikey’s Bar. Reports indicate that Wahab had visited his aunt’s residence on New Road earlier in the evening. Upon observing that Wahab was under the influence of alcohol, his aunt advised him to return home and come back to see her the following day. Subsequently, Wahab left the house and began walking east on New Road.

It was during this walk that Wahab was allegedly attacked.

A subsequent examination of the victim’s body revealed multiple wounds, including one on the left shoulder, one on the lower left back, one on the right hand near the elbow, and one on the right side in the ribs area.
