Regional Division No. 2 police have launched an investigation into a tragic accident that took place yesterday evening at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Adventure Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The incident involved a motor car bearing license plate PSS 150, owned and operated by Aubery Lennox Tyrell, a 41-year-old ambulance driver from Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, and a pedestrian identified as Budhidra Koosiall, aged 52 and a resident of Adventure village, Essequibo Coast.

According to initial reports, the motor car, traveling south in the eastern drive lane, was allegedly moving at a high speed when the driver spotted a pedestrian crossing from the western side of the Public Road to the eastern side. The driver claimed that he attempted to avoid a collision upon noticing the pedestrian, but despite his efforts, the right front side of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian. The impact caused the victim to be thrown onto the front windscreen before landing on the road surface.

Members of the public, along with the driver, promptly responded to the scene, finding the pedestrian unconscious and with injuries to his body. They immediately transported him to Suddie Public Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the hospital, the attending physician pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities apprehended the driver who is currently in police custody. He is cooperating with the authorities to provide necessary information and assist in the inquiry.
