Police have reported a fatal accident that took place on Monday, June 12, 2023, at approximately 19:00 hours on Long Creek Public Road. The incident involved a motorcar with licence plate number PAD 283, driven by 25-year-old Hubert James of lot 39 West Watooka Wismar Linden, and a black XR motorcycle.

The motorcycle was being driven by 22-year-old Shazeer Mohammed, with 26-year-old Ryan Boodan as the pillion rider, both residents of Long Creek Red Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

Initial investigations have revealed that the motorcycle was travelling south along the eastern side of the road, while motorcar PAD 283 was also proceeding in the same direction, at a distance behind. The driver of the motorcar alleged that the motorcycle, which lacked rear lights, suddenly veered west. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver applied the brakes; however, due to the short distance, motorcar PAD 283 collided with the rear of the motorcycle.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles sustained damage, and the motorcyclist and the pillion rider fell to the road surface, sustaining injuries to their heads and bodies. Passersby rendered immediate assistance, and the injured individuals were found unconscious. They were subsequently transported in a passing vehicle to Linden Hospital Complex.

Upon arrival at the hospital, medical professionals examined the victims and pronounced them dead. The bodies of the deceased were then transferred to the Memorial Funeral Home for temporary storage pending a post-mortem examination.

The driver of motorcar PAD 283 underwent a breathalyzer test, which yielded no traces of alcohol on his breath. He has been detained by the police and is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation. Further inquiries into the incident are being conducted to gather additional information.
