In marking another significant milestone for Guyana’s healthcare sector, Ramona Chanderballi, a Registered Cardiac Sonographer, has proudly represented the country at the prestigious American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Scientific Sessions.

The ASE Scientific Sessions, regarded as the premier event for ECHO enthusiasts from around the world, gathered professionals and experts from over 45 countries. With its focus on education, networking, and advancements in cardiovascular ultrasound, the conference served as a platform for fostering excellence in the field. This year’s event took place in National Harbour, Maryland, USA, drawing global attention to the latest breakthroughs in cardiac imaging and diagnostic techniques.

Chanderballi’s journey to the ASE Scientific Sessions began when she was awarded with a Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Aaron S. White Education grant in 2019. As an echocardiography student, the grant provided her with the opportunity to attend the conference held that year in Portland, Oregon, USA. This experience ignited her passion for pushing the boundaries of cardiac care in Guyana. She has since been licensed by CCI.

Expressing her gratitude, Chanderballi said, “Attending ASE 2023 is not just an important milestone for me personally this year but it also redefines Guyana’s commitment towards having the best healthcare to offer to our Guyanese people. I see these conferences as opportunities for us to not just learn and network, but to also reinvigorate our work ethic and our bedside care for our patients.” She also acknowledged the crucial role played by Dr. Rosh Khan of ACE Consulting Group in making her participation in the conference a reality.

Dr. Rosh Khan, President of ACE Consulting Group, commended Chanderballi’s exceptional achievements, stating, “Ms. Chanderballi has demonstrated that compassion and competence are vital ingredients for success. We take great pride in her pioneering work and stand ready to support her future endeavors.”

At the ASE Scientific Sessions, the cardiac sonographer had the privilege of engaging with renowned industry players such as GE Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers, Philips, Abbott, Mayo Clinic, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. These valuable connections provided a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, enabling her to stay abreast of the latest advancements in cardiac sonography.

With dedicated professionals like Chanderballi leading the way, Guyana’s healthcare sector is poised for further advancements and enhanced patient care in the years to come.
