A 15-year-old, East Bank Demerara student was yesterday assaulted in full view of his mother.

The parent subsequently made a report at the Grove Police Station, alleging that a student came from behind her son and ‘choked’ him with a twine.

Sergeant Jewan and ranks from Grove Police Station visited the school where the Deputy Head Mistress was contacted. She stated that the school’s Welfare Department is investigating the matter.

The child was escorted to the Diamond Hospital, where he was seen and examined. The Police Force is awaiting the school’s Welfare Officer report to proceed with the investigation.
